When signing up for P.E classes, there are several different options students can partake in here at SHS. There’s aerobics, traditional team sports, swimming, lifting weights, and many more. Now, there’s another program that has a higher intensity for students looking to get a high intensity workout during the school day. It’s called personal fitness and is currently taught by Mrs. Meininger. Personal fitness consists mostly of TRX training, but also includes T-25, P90X, medicine ball workouts, stretching and flexibility exercises. “TRX training is a system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. Students are in control of how much you want to challenge yourself by adjusting your body position to add or decrease resistance,” Meininger said. If you’re looking for a challenging workout, then you’re definitely in the right place. “Every exercise you do will challenge your core. TRX which was started by Navy seals is a suspension bodyweight exercise that will develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously,” Meininger said.
